Dedication of the DreamKeepers

Ohio Avenuean Jim Wildeman invites everyone to the Saturday, June 21, dedication of two huge metal bird sculptures in front of the building that houses Jim's office, 211 S. Paterson St. The program is noon-2 p.m., right in time for summer solstice.

"Come celebrate their arrival, enjoy some refreshments, meet the artist and learn more about these sculptures and the people responsible for them," Jim says.

The sculptures were installed on the morning of March 24 without fanfare. A crew of men and machines worked through the day and by 4:30 that afternoon they had put the finishing touches on a project that was three years in the making.

To many who passed by in the following days these two 35-foot statues were a mystery: Where did they come from? Who build them? How did they get here?

"The Birds", as they have come to be known as, are made up of thousands of scrap metal parts, many of them salvaged right out of Madison's east-side history. And they catch the interest all that lay eyes on them.

On Saturday, June 21, the summer solstice, from noon to 2:00
you are invited to join In the Dedication of the DreamKeepers.
