What a difference drywall makes

drywalled kitchen

Looking into the kitchen from the new back door.

windows, drywall

The kitchen windows. The "before" shot.

window, arch

To the left of this window is the entrance to the basement stops. To the right is the entrance to the half bath. The open spaceon the left is for a built-in shelf cabinet. The bottom half will be accessible from the basement stairs. Cabinet doors will block the view from the study.

view into pantry

The view from the kitchen into the pantry. Oops, the drywallers didn't account for the inset shelf to the right of the pantry pocket door. The photo to the left shows the continuation of the wall to the left of the pantry door.

view of space for shelf

window with drywall

Left is the space for the shelf next to the basement stairs. Hmmm. Wonder if I should have arched the top of that somehow. Well, there'll be built-in shelves there someday, and those will match with other planned shelving, such as that along the lefthand wall in the above photo of the new study. The architect may be right in that I'll want to two mulled (side-by-side) windows someday.
